Job Summary: (HEALTHCARE REQUIRED, Azure Required, SQL Required, Data Warehousing (including ETL, development, testing, ad-hoc reporting, and business analysis) REQUIRED) The Data Solutions Engineer III is responsible for bringing advanced knowledge of Data Warehousing (including ETL, development, testing, ad-hoc reporting, and business analysis) to the Finance function, and is regarded as subject-matter expert and mentor for one or more health insurance data domains. Essential Functions:
- Participate in the full life cycle of data and analytic solutions, broadly from requirements through ETL / ELT, production, consumption, and ad-hoc reporting
- Develop end-to-end data warehouse / data mart solutions, utilizing Databricks and Microsoft technologies. Patterns include traditional dimensional modeling (Kimball), and schema-less (big data) models
- Develop data modeling expertise on one or more insurance-specific data / workflows, such as claims, care management (CM), utilization management (UM), eligibility, and population health
- Partner with Data analysts, and line-of-business stakeholders in product ideation, requirements gathering, data reviews, ongoing data quality, and troubleshooting
- Serve as a champion and mentor for junior colleagues and data consumers, through training, mentorship, architectural design, testing, and documentation
- Develop or support reports, dashboards, and ad-hoc data that supports advanced medical economics analysis
- Test, debug, and performance tune data pipelines and end-user queries
- Maintain the highest level of data security and confidentiality, conforming to all HIPAA and contract requirements

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
- A minimum of six (6) years' data warehouse engineering-level SQL experience (including architecture, modeling, profiling and cleansing, and monitoring) is required
- A minimum of four (4) years' experience building customer facing data solutions (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.) is required
- A minimum of three (3) years' experience in healthcare data is required
Competencies, Knowledge and Skills:
- Expert SQL skills, including the ability to develop / maintain systems utilizing contemporary data warehousing patterns including ETL / ELT, fact and dimension modeling, and deploying analytic resources via staging tiers and consumption layers
- Skilled in warehousing data from multiple sources, such as operational data stores (ODS), flat file, EDI/HL7, API, etc.
- Advanced knowledge of Azure Databricks and SparkSQL, or similar data lake platforms (Snowflake, Fabric, etc.)
- Proficiency with the Microsoft data ecosystem (PowerBI / Fabric)
- Knowledge of Python, including Python-specific data modeling skill supporting data transformation and data science
- Expertise with healthcare insurance data (claims, HIE, utilization management, demographics, and common healthcare code sets and processes [patient registry, billing, diagnosis, procedure codes])
- Proficient with the Microsoft 365 suite, including extensive use of Teams, SharePoint, and Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Licensure and Certification:
- Relevant Microsoft certifications (SQL, PowerBI, Azure) is preferred
- Databricks certification and/or badging is preferred
Working Conditions:
- General office environment; may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Compensation Range: $92,300.00 - $161,600.00 CareSource takes into consideration a combination of a candidate's education, training, and experience as well as the position's scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required for the role, and other external and internal data when establishing a salary level. In addition to base compensation, you may qualify for a bonus tied to company and individual performance.
